Steel Pipe Making Machine – Manufacturing Workflow and Material Selection

Shijiazhuang Faith Machinery Co., Ltd. specializes in the development of steel pipe making machines that integrate raw material handling, forming, welding, and finishing processes into a seamless production line. The process begins with coil loading and uncoiling: high-tension coil straightening units ensure that material fed into the line is free from curvature or residual stresses. Precision roll sets then gradually bend the strip into a cylindrical shape, with forming stands positioned to control the curvature radius and wall tolerance. Each forming stand is equipped with adjustable side rolls, enabling operators to accommodate a variety of steel grades—ranging from low-carbon to high-strength alloys—while maintaining dimensional accuracy.

Following forming, edges converge at the welding section. Shijiazhuang Faith’s machines employ submerged arc welding (SAW) or high-frequency induction welding (HFIW) depending on customer requirements. SAW lines feature flux recovery systems and dual-wire or single-wire configurations, which influence penetration depth and bead profile. In contrast, HFIW units generate a localized magnetic field to heat strip edges, then apply mechanical pressure to forge a clean bond. Both welding types integrate real-time monitoring sensors to track temperature, current, and weld seam uniformity. These data feed into a central control system that adjusts weld parameters on the fly to mitigate defects such as lack of fusion or porosity.

Post-weld inspection is critical for product integrity. Inline nondestructive testing (NDT) equipment—such as ultrasonic flaw detectors and Eddy current probes—scans each pipe for cracks, inclusions, or laminations. Automatic marking systems imprint heat numbers, dimensions, and production dates, facilitating downstream traceability. Finally, sizing and stretch-forming units refine the pipe’s roundness and straightness before shearing to length. Hydraulic pull-through or flying cutoff saws optimize cut quality, ensuring burr-free ends suitable for threading or beveling in subsequent operations.

Material selection plays a pivotal role in determining machine configuration. High-strength low-alloy (HSLA) steels demand tighter forming roll gaps and more precise welding controls due to their propensity for springback. Austenitic stainless steels, with their lower magnetic permeability, often require SAW methods and higher heat input to achieve consistent weld quality.

By offering modular machine designs, Shijiazhuang Faith Machinery empowers manufacturers to adapt their lines swiftly as product specifications evolve, reducing changeover downtime and maximizing throughput without sacrificing dimensional consistency or weld integrity.
